Traditionally polyurethane(PU) belts are used in most food production plants, with the most common being 1 and 2 ply belts with a thickness of 0.6mm – 1.4mm.
Polyvinyl Chloride(PVC) belts are mainly used with packaged goods in distribution hubs for the transport of heavy items over longer distances. Used on incline and decline belts where grip is required to move the product. Although not as cost effective as PU, PVC is a tougher belt where conveyor setup is a problem. PVC belting is thicker than PU, with ply ranges going up to 4 ply and 10mm thick.
Operating in temperatures from -30 to +100 degrees centigrade, both PU and PVC belts can have side walls, with or without a foot, sealed edges and tracking profiles with onsite vulcanising possible. Available in white, blue, green and black with a variety of patterns, finishes and textures.
Transmission and drive belts vary widely dependant on use. Top and bottom covers are made from; leather, rubber, nylon or polyurethane (PU) with a central ply of either nylon or PU. They can be used to drive machines or as roller drives in distribution. Being able to run at high speeds with heavy loads they offer good value for money.
